Edgware man hoping for stardom

A man who was born in Romania but now living in Edgware is hoping to have a shot at becoming a music star, after he was spotted while busking and invited to perform on daytime television.

Ilie Haraga is 34-years-old and has only been living in the UK with his wife for a few weeks, where they have settled in Edgware. He was playing the saxophone in the street when he was noticed by Piers Morgan, host of Good Morning Britain, who was so impressed that he filmed it on his phone.

Morgan subsequently showed this film on the programme and made an appeal for him to come forward, so that he could be given a proper showcase for his talent on television.

This was seen by millions of viewers, who told Haraga about it as he busked, before he was tracked down by the Daily Mail. Speaking to a reporter from this newspaper, he stated that he had been planning to seek building work, adding:

“I came here to become a professional musician. I can’t believe my luck that I’ve been spotted so soon. I’d love to go on TV and play for Piers in person – to say thanks for putting me on TV so that one day my dream might just come true.”

Buskers and other musical acts can use places that offer poster printing, to help promote themselves and their talents.
