Jennifer Jakaj is aged six and is currently a pupil at Colindale Primary School, situated on Clovelly Avenue in Edgware. When she was invited to the Butterfly Ball both of her legs were in plaster, but she was able to join the stars in attendance on the red carpet despite this.
The youngster suffers from cerebral palsy and was a guest of the Caudwell Children charity on the evening, with the organisation having put together the ball. A total of 800 people attended, with pop star Paloma Faith, former England footballer David Seaman and actress Denise Welch among them.
However, the person that Jennifer was most excited to meet was X Factor singer Fleur East, and she also got to witness East perform on the night. Afterwards, the charity’s Trudi Beswick told Hendon Today that:
“She was in her element – she happily posed on the red carpet with a number of celebrity guests and had a fantastic time.”
The event managed to raise over £1 million and fundraising events of this kind often make use of promotional items so that those who attend them can be given reminders of the charity.
