Edgware children to benefit from online auction

A national auction of pottery will be taking place online shortly, with the aim of raising the money to finance brand new pottery facilities for Edgware children.

This auction has been given the name FiredUp4 and it is set to see 50 artworks created from ceramics auctioned off. All the money raised as a result will be going to towards paying for pottery studios that can be used by children who attend the Unitas Youth Zone in Edgware. Those behind the event are hoping to make £150,000 as a result of it.

Local community organisations like the Unitas Youth Zone can benefit from having promotional Pens on site that were created by shops in Edgware, and that people can take away to help promote them.

This auction and the people behind it have the backing of a number of notable celebrities, including stand-up comic Johnny Vegas and DJ Sara Cox. They are also supported by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the current Speaker of the House of Commons.

The last time FiredUp4 hosted one of these auctions, two years ago, it managed to raise over £100,000 – so hopes are high for this year’s event. Artworks featured in the auction will include pieces by major figures like Dame Zandra Rhodes and Edmund de Waal.

This online auction will be held this Friday, May 27.
