There was an evening of celebrations in Edgware earlier in the month, as Belmont and Edgware Cricket Club held its awards night, and for one player, the night proved to be extra special.
Daniel Frumar saw his outstanding efforts for the club throughout last season recognised with a double award win on the night. The right handed player was born in Australia and during his 16 games last year, his bowling average was 14 and his batting average 65 – making for a truly stellar contribution.
His displays on the pitch made him an obvious choice to claim the Player of the Year gong at the annual awards ceremony, but Frumar also went on to receive the Player’s Player of the Year, indicating that his teammates also appreciated his efforts.
Although Frumar was the star of the show, other players picked up prizes. Young Player of the Year went to Greg Mayer, who has also represented his country at junior level, while the award for Most Improved Player went to Bension Tilley.
It was also confirmed during the evening that the club will play competitively for the first time in five years from next season, in the Chess Valley League Division Five.
