Coventry to hold minibeast safari

The Summer Minibeast Adventure is due to be held towards the end of July in Coventry.

This event should appeal to families and children, in particular, those who want to experience and engage with the outdoors. It represents a good opportunity for young people to see and learn about small creatures in their natural habitat.

The hunting adventure uses magnifiers, sweep nets and shaker sheets to capture, examine and then release specimens. Local park rangers will be on hand to assist in the identification of the many flying, jumping and crawling creatures.

The likely species to be seen on the safari include butterflies, ladybirds, bumblebees, dragonflies, caterpillars and snails, all to be discovered among the trees and bushes as well as in the long grass. There, as always, remains the distinct possibility of discovering something unusual or rare.

This event is suitable for those aged over 3 years, who must be in the company of an adult, although the under 5’s may need some assistance in carrying out the activity.

Tickets cost £4.63, require pre-booking and are non-refundable. Participants are to meet at the Visitors Centre and should be aware of the Pay and Display system in the car park. Flyer printing campaigns can be a helpful way to publicise local outdoor events.

The Summer Minibeast Adventure will take place between 10:30am and 12pm on Thursday 23rd July at Ryton Pools Country Park in Coventry.
