Coventry finds its funny bone

Canadian comedienne Katherine Ryan is due to make an appearance in Coventry towards the end of July.

The daughter of an Irish father and a Canadian glitzy "stage mom", bios of Ryan note that her material is shaped by her experiences as a child and how difficult it can be to shake off an upbringing. Now 37 years old, her brand of comedy is an individual take on topics such as gender hypocrisy and life as a single mum, doing so in a laidback yet upfront manner. Apart from being a performer-writer, she is also an actress, having starred as George in Channel 4's "Campus" and as Merc's assistant in the second run of "Episodes".

Ryan has been described by "The Times" as "thoughtful, funny and just twisted enough" with Ents24 naming her in 2015 as one of the top five hardest-working comics.

The show is hosted by Danny Deegan. In support are Adam Rowe from Liverpool and the star of Frank Skinner's Absolute Radio Show, Gareth Richards.

Tickets range in price from £42.90 to £49.50. The artists appearing may also be subject to change. Poster printing is widely recognised as a practical way of publicising a local concert or event.

Katherine Ryan, Live at the Rialto!, has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 22 at the Rialto Plaza, Coventry.
