Coventry 2021 to gain from 5 million grant

An investment of £5 million should transform Coventry by 2021.

The grant has been made by Arts Council England (ACE). Spending of £5 million has the potential to upgrade Coventry for its spell as UK Capital of Culture in 2021. Demand for Print shops can increase when a local economy receives a boost.

It seems that ACE acquired the resources from the lottery. The money will be spent on preparations, activities and legacy development. The hope is that the impact of being UK Capital of Culture will be an enduring one.

Martin Sutherland is the chief executive of the Coventry City of Culture Trust and he explained:

“UK City of Culture in 2021 is a chance to celebrate and highlight Coventry’s youth and diversity but to also bring long-term cultural, social and economic benefits to the city.”

Darren Henley, the chief executive of ACE, thinks that the injection of cash will have a big influence on the experiences of the public. In his view, investment in the local cultural organisations and artists will have huge benefits. He believes that Coventry can be promoted as an international, inclusive and dynamic city.

Last December, Coventry secured the City of Culture status for 2021. It saw off competition from Paisley, Stoke, Sunderland, and Swansea. Cities in the UK are not entitled to participate in the European Capital of Culture any longer.
