Temporary pop-up restaurant comes to Clapham
Food fans living in Clapham who fancy trying something a little different during the next couple of months will be delighted at the news that one of the pubs in the area has gone temporarily Thai.
The King and Co pub is located on Clapham Park Road and has played host to a number of pop-up chefs and traders in street food before, including Fowl Mouths and Allihopa. This time it is providing the venue for a Thai food pop-up restaurant called Tem Ban, running throughout August and September.
The Thai eatery has already enjoyed tremendous success during similar pop-up spells in other parts of south London, as well as selling out its launch meals at Herne Hill’s Lido Café – suggesting culinary connoisseurs are in for a real treat.
Craig Broadhurst, the head chef and founder of Tem Ban, has devoted half a decade to Thai cuisine, via work at Bar Story’s Thai Grill and Peckham’s Begging Bowl. His menu for the duration of the Clapham residency will blend modern methods of cooking with traditional ingredients from Thai dishes, with Whole Thai Steamed Fish, Red Curry Fish Cakes, Beef La Lot and Crispy Pigs Ears all set to be on offer.
Pubs and restaurants offering unusual dishes of this kind can use promotional drinkware to help attract the interest of local people.
