Conversion plan for church hall in Clapham
A church hall in Clapham that is disused and in a state of disrepair could be given a new lease of life if plans to convert it into flats and a gym are given the go ahead.
St Mary’s Hall is situated close to the Clapham Common underground station, in St Alphonsus Road. The condition of the building has deteriorated considerably in recent years, leaving it badly in need of renovation work. The proposal that has been submitted would see a gymnasium and a brand new community hall created on the ground floor.
The two remaining floors in the building would be converted into flats. There would be one with three bedrooms, three with two bedrooms and five with a single bedroom. The plans would also see another storey constructed on top of the existing building, which dates back to the Victorian era.
Clapham property developers need to show off their latest homes once they are ready for habitation. They often look to brochure printing outlets to help them with this.
The developer behind this scheme is Monheim Real Estate UK. It would involve a lot of work to transform the building. There is currently an unused hall on the bottom floor and a flat with three bedrooms spread across the other two.
Lambeth Council now has the plans and will make the decision on them.
