Clapham venue reopens following refurbishment
A popular pub in Clapham has opened its doors again this month, after being closed for refurbishment works that were designed to give it a new lease of life without sacrificing its look.
The Junction pub used to be known by the name Windsor Castle, and is situated on St John’s Hill, right next to Clapham Junction. The cost of its refurbishment is believed to have been six figures, and the idea was to make improvements while keeping the old-fashioned decor and feel of the venue.
It shut its doors temporarily during the autumn so that work could be carried out on reviving both the inside and outside of the building. The pub dates back to the 1920s, and its traditional style is one of its hallmarks. Now, the interiors have been changed to dark blue, while new sofas and chairs have been added to make the pub more cosy and comfortable.
Printing services in Clapham can help pubs in the same area with essential items such as food and drinks menus when they reopen after renovation works.
Other changes that visitors to The Junction will notice are a new bar layout and different artworks on the walls. The lights have also been upgraded throughout, but the beer garden, named Platform 18, is one of the few of its type in the district, and has therefore been retained.
