Charity walk in Clapham seeks local support
The organisers of a charity walk in Clapham to raise money for cancer research are urging local people to take part again this year, so that they can make it the best event yet.
The Clapham Common Moonwalk is intended to raise cash towards curing breast cancer, and this year will be the 23rd time it has taken place. In total, the event has managed to bring in £133 million for its chosen cause and the 2020 walk, which is being called ‘Out of this World’ and has a futuristic theme, seems likely to be another big success.
Those behind it are expecting thousands of people from Clapham and further afield to take part in it, with the walk being open to anyone who is 13 years old or over. Despite this, they have put out a call to remind people. Poster printing can be a useful charity publicity tool.
To fit the theme, everyone entering the 2020 Moonwalk is being encouraged to wear bras that feature cyborgs, spaceships and other sci-fi imagery. One person who will be taking part is 36-year-old cancer survivor Claire Kelly and she told London News Online that she had previously entered last year’s Moonwalk London as a way of marking her recovery.
The Clapham Common Moonwalk will start at midnight on 16th May.
