Caroline prepares for Clapham cancer challenge
A woman from South London is not letting a diagnosis of cancer slow her down, as she prepares to take part in an event in Clapham next year, which is aimed at raising money for charity.
Caroline Geraerts, aged 59, was diagnosed with the disease during the spring and underwent surgery in June – in between which she chose to climb a mountain. Now she is set to continue with her exertions by participating in the 2018 MoonWalk, which will be setting off from Clapham Common.
She is also continuing to run her business, telling a reporter from London News Online that she is keen to keep her life as normal as possible and, having seen an advert for the MoonWalk, felt it was an ideal way of raising awareness and cash.
Caroline went on to add that she had already managed to persuade her best friend to do the walk alongside her and her partner Paul, but that they had not yet started any serious training, before saying:

“Having walked it in 2003 and provided entertainment for it in 2013, I know what a fantastic night the MoonWalk is and little did I think in 2018 I’d also have had the personal experience of breast cancer to spur me on.”
