Work to begin soon on Chesterfield luxury flats

Work on the construction of a block of luxury flats in the heart of Chesterfield, at the Market Place site that used to be home to the town’s Post Office, is expected to get underway within months.

Conditional planning approval has been granted for the project by the local council and it would see seven luxury flats constructed on two floors of the building, which holds Grade II listed status. Telereal Trillium is the developer behind the scheme and the flats have been designed by WCEC, a firm of architects based in Chesterfield.

While the upper and middle floors will be turned into flats, the building’s ground floor is set to become a sizeable space for commercial use, with a communal courtyard at the back. Telereal Trillium’s development and disposals director, Mark Kelly, said that the company was delighted at the enthusiastic community response and was excited at the progress being made.

WCEC associate director, Nick Fenton, told the Derbyshire Times that:

“We are keen, as are the developers, to progress works on such a fantastic scheme which will contribute positively to the town centre.”

The hope is that construction work at the chosen site can get underway before the close of 2016 and once the flats have been completed the developers can always turn to brochure printers to help showcase them to potential buyers.
