Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the Chesterfield Sunday League, and the date of its major cup final has now been revealed.
The big climax to this league is the Alma Cup final, and the venue for the 2027 event will be the Inkersall Road ground of Staveley Miners Welfare FC. While it has taken place at a variety of football grounds during the past six decades, most consider Inkersall Road to be its spiritual home. This is because that ground is where the inaugural Alma Cup final took place in 1967.
Back then, the two sides vying for glory were Creswell Welfare Old Boys and New Whittington. It was the latter team that came out on top those 60 years ago.
Chesterfield Sunday League has also announced that it will provide a special match programme for the final. This will honour the 60th anniversary and will contain plenty of historic information and photographs.
Brochure printing outlets in Chesterfield can be useful to local sports leagues when they need match programmes. These outlets can provide high-quality printed programmes for such events.
Other grounds where the Alma Cup final has been held include the old Saltergate ground used by Chesterfield FC.
The final of the 60th Alma Cup is scheduled to take place on Friday, 7 May.
