Takeover plans for Chesterfield FC close to completion

The Plans by a local community trust to assume ownership of Chesterfield FC are still on track, despite a number of delays, and it is hoped that a deal can be agreed within weeks.

The trust has been trying to reach agreement with the owner of the Spireites for months, with the Covid-19 pandemic being the latest issue to cause delays. Now Ashley Carson, the club’s company secretary, has told the Derbyshire Times that talks have been ongoing and that both parties feel that real progress towards a deal has been achieved.

Chesterfield FC is currently owned by Dave Allen and the company secretary went on to say that Allen remained committed to the idea of selling the club to the community trust, despite frustrations at the delays. Carson also stated that the trust’s chairman Mike Goodwin was now back in contact with the club, before going on to add:

“I am aware that they have received several knock backs recently and I now believe that they are feeling much more positive.”

Local football clubs often rely on brochure printing services to provide them with essential materials such as full-colour match-day programmes to sell in their club shops.

Carson concluded by saying that both parties involved in the sale of the club were hoping to complete things by 1st July.
