The building in question is the one that used to house a furniture outlet called Eyres. That store closed its doors some time ago and the building has been lying empty ever since. Now it is set to be brought back into use, albeit as a mix of commercial and housing units. Chesterfield Borough Council has given permission for Plans to convert the building along those lines.
This work will be carried out in a way that respects the legacy of the building, which is one of the most historic in the town. The developer behind the Plans has not been named, but is a local company. It is intending to turn the building into 10 units for commercial use and 20 flats.
When that work has been completed, both the units and flats will be marketed by estate agency Highgates. Brochure printing by Chesterfield shops can sometimes be useful in showing off new properties to let.
Lettings Director at Highgates, Jamal Khan, told Chesterfield News:
“This project shows strong confidence in Chesterfield’s property market. Demand remains high for well-located homes and retail spaces.”
It is expected that work on the project will begin soon.
