Organisers of Chesterfield marathon aim for record numbers

The Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathon is set to take place in the town again later this year, and the organisers are hoping for a record number of entrants.

Last year’s event saw over 1,500 people sign up, which was a new record number of advance entries. Already, there have been hundreds of local people signing up for this year’s race during the early months of 2020, which is leading the organisers to believe that it could be the best yet for numbers. The race will begin and end at Queen’s Park in Chesterfield.

The 2020 event will offer several different race choices, including the main Half Marathon of 13.1 miles, the Peak FM Five Mile Run and the Blachford Fun Run. There will also be new ones this year, with details of these to be revealed nearer the time.

Promotional Pens featuring the event name are often given away by the organisers of this sort of event to help get the word out. Speaking to Chesterfield News, event director John Timms said:

“We really want to build on the success of the first three Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathons by breaking advance entry records again, and with additional elements this year we’re confident we can achieve that.”

The event partners are local charities Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Ashgate Hospicecare. It will be taking place on October 18th.
