The building is located on Elder Way and was formerly owned by the Co-op, but is now a Premier Inn hotel. The renovation work cost millions of pounds to carry out, with the top two storeys of the building now home to a hotel with 92 rooms. Situated right in the centre of Chesterfield, the refurbished building retains its Mock-Tudor 1930s look.
The company behind the project is Jomast Developments, which bought the building three years ago, with work starting on it last year. Although the historic exterior of the building has been preserved, it has been restored to bring back its sparkle.
With Premier Inn taking over the upper storeys, the remaining floors are set to be used for hospitality and leisure purposes. New hotels often rely on brochure printing to show off their amenities.
Speaking to East Midlands Business Link, Marie Dukes-Brown from Premier Inn stated:
“Being a few days away from opening our doors is a really exciting moment for us, and we can’t wait to welcome the first guests to our latest format Premier Inn in the heart of town.”
The new hotel is scheduled to open on April 11th.
