The group Plans to transform a bogged down area of Chesterfield’s Stand Road Park into wetlands. This will feature Boxes for birds, pathways around the edges, and irises and reeds.
Now that the money has been found for this, work in the park is expected to get underway during the summer, with volunteers set to carry out the majority of the work.
Funding came courtesy of Viridor Credits Environmental Company, which awarded the Friends of Stand Road group £12,765 towards the project. Chesterfield Borough Council is chipping in £1,300, thus enabling the group to meet the terms of the Landfill Communities Fund, requiring an outside organisation to put forward 10% of total costs.
Friends of Stand Road Chair Graham King told the Derbyshire Times:
“We are grateful to Viridor Credits and to Chesterfield Borough Council for awarding the money needed to make the project possible. The boggy section of the park has long been the subject of complaints from visitors.”
He added that the work would give the park greater structure and interest, and community groups such as this often rely on places offering Logo Design to ensure they have eye-catching logos.
