Final fundraising effort needed for cancer centre

Residents of Chesterfield are being asked to help with the final round of fundraising to generate the cash required for the completion of a multi-million pound cancer centre within Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The specialist facility is expected to cost £9.5 million to build and will be called the National Garden Scheme Macmillan Unit. It is expected to be ready for launch by the summer, with the project now having entered its final stages.

A fundraising campaign that was supported by the Derbyshire Times saw £2.3 million being raised, while Macmillan Cancer Support provided a further £2.5 million towards it. The facility was supposed to launch last year, but was delayed for a number of reasons, with the hospital now seeking a final financial boost.

A patient at the hospital, 59-year-old Dawn Cartlidge, told the Derbyshire Times that the official opening of the new centre was something that she was very excited about, adding that:

“I think the new centre will be really good for this area. Having all of the cancer services available under one roof will make visiting the hospital a more convenient experience for patients.”

Once the centre has opened its doors to the public in Chesterfield, it will be able to call on places that supply Stationery printing to ensure it has all of the admin Forms it needs.
