Comedy play coming to Chesterfield

A classic stage comedy is set to come to a theatre in Chesterfield this spring, with carefully socially distanced audiences, as live entertainment starts to resume.

April in Paris was written by the playwright John Godber and deals with the comic travails of a middle-aged couple who win a dream trip to the French capital. The lead characters of Bet and Al are set to be played by Sarah Earnshaw and Joe Pasquale, whose double act will already be familiar to audiences from the successful stage adaptation of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.

They were performing together in a UK tour of that show when the pandemic forced all theatres to close and Pasquale stated that they were thrilled by the prospect of bringing live stage entertainment back to people after what has been a difficult year for everyone.

Brochure printing supplied by shops in the town often provides Chesterfield theatres with the programmes for their upcoming shows.

Speaking to Chesterfield News, Richard Lewis, the director and producer of the show said that making stage productions work in the midst of the Covid-19 restrictions was a real challenge, adding:

“This is why I am particularly delighted and proud that Limelight Productions has been able to create a show that can help bring live performance back to its audience.”

April in Paris is due to hit Chesterfield during March.
