Collaboration announced for PEAK gateway project

Chesterfield Borough Council has announced that it will be joining forces with a number of other bodies in the creation of the first National Park gateway in the UK.

This project is being called ‘Gateway at PEAK’ and it is part of a wider development that has been named ‘PEAK Resort’. The council will be working with the University of Derby, the Peak District National Park Authority and specialist development firm Milligan and Birchall Properties – which owns the land – on the creation of this fully serviced gateway.

The location will be just outside Chesterfield, which is to be the gateway town for the PEAK Resort. The aim of the gateway is to control access to the park, so that both its wildlife and the local community are not negatively affected, as well as to get people using sustainable transport options, rather than cars.

The PEAK Resort will cover 300 acres and include entertainment, leisure and hotel facilities alongside the national park. Brochure printing is often needed by those who run resorts of this kind, so that visitors can pick up Booklets telling them what amenities are on offer.

Huw Bowen from Chesterfield council said that the resort was a big part of its Plans to improve the town and that it was happy to help Milligan in the creation of the gateway.
