Chesterfield theatre refurb proceeding on schedule

Work to refurbish a Chesterfield theatre with roots dating back to the Victorian era is proceeding at a rapid pace, ensuring it is on track to reopen early next year.

Stephenson Memorial Hall is a Grade II listed building and one of the jewels in Chesterfield’s crown. It is currently undergoing extensive renovations, courtesy of Chesterfield Borough Council. The local authority has made a number of images available to the public that show how the work is progressing. The theatre is being increased in size, while a new bar-cafe is also being added.

The eventual cost of the work will be £19 million, but it should improve the experience for attendees. The pictures that have been released show that a new stage has been installed and work has begun on a bigger seating circle. The steelwork for this has been fitted in the auditorium.

Graphic Design Services can be useful to entertainment venues when they need to promote their upcoming shows. Such services can help with the creation of advertising Posters.

According to BBC News, the council used social media to provide an update:

“There is still lots to do including re-installing the decorative panelling and creating a new lighting feature using the stunning stained-glass windows.”

The building houses the Pomegranate Theatre and it should reopen early in 2026.
