Chesterfield charity is halfway to fundraising target

A local Chesterfield charity is halfway to reaching its fundraising target thanks to a partnership with a national supermarket chain.

Specialist Stroke Services, a charity that raises awareness of strokes and supports stroke victims is well on the way to achieving its fundraising target, thanks to a partnership with national supermarket giant, Sainsbury’s. Specialist Stroke Services has partnered with Sainsbury’s since July 2012, which was when the first bout of fundraising activity started, with an in-store signing by a local artist raised over £600 in the first month. Many local charities promote events like this using outdoor advertising particularly suitable at local stores, such as A boards and banner printing.

Chesterfield Sainsbury’s continued to raise wads of cash for Specialist Stroke Services throughout the year, with a catwalk fashion show in November raising over £1,000. Donation buckets are also dotted around the local Sainsbury’s in Chesterfield so customers can contribute to the cause if they feel inclined to help. The next leg of fundraising is set to quite literally make the sky the limit as members of Sainsbury’s and Specialist Stroke Services join forces to arrange a skydive from 15,000 feet up in the air.

Julie Wheelhouse, a spokesperson for Specialist Stroke Services, commented on the store partnership, saying:

“I'd to take this opportunity to thank every Sainsbury's Chesterfield customer and colleague who's generously recognised the partnership and has made a donation to our cause. We're proud to be the store's Local Charity Partner and we look forward to working with colleagues during the remainder of our partnership.”

Sainsbury’s is due to review its charity partners in May when a vote on which charity should next receive support will be held.
