Chesterfield attraction to mark Luminaire with major transformation

The grounds of Chatsworth House are set to be taken over with candles and magical illuminations when Luminaire takes place later this month. The event is inspired by the building’s famous painting of Duchess Georgina as Diana, Goddess of the Moon.

Visitors will be able to take the magical journey through the lunar cycle, with the legend of Diana brought to life. The gardens’ main features, such as the Emperor Fountain, Flora’s Temple and the Rockery, will be transformed using projections, lighting and soundscapes.

The subtle lighting effects and creative use of candles will provide attendees with an insight into life before electricity was available. Actors in period costume will also be on hand to share stories, and live performances will add another dimension to the experience.

This year’s Luminaire will mark the first time in 170 years that Chatsworth House has been displayed to members of the public in such a way; the last occasion was due to a visit from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1843.

Such events tend to need promoting in the local area and printing companies in Chesterfield are known to provide help when festivals take place in the area. Banner and flyer printing can be crucial when it comes to boosting visitor numbers.

The Luminaire event is running from October 26-30. General tickets must be purchased in advance from the Chatsworth House website, although entry to the garden can be arranged on the night if attendance figures allow.
