Dominic Stevens hails from the Tupton district and is targeting a sum of more than
£1,616 to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society. Both his grandmother and mother had dementia, which is helping to motivate him in his quest.
He stated that work colleagues, family and friends had all pledged to participate and support him during the charity challenges, which will include climbing Ben Nevis, running a marathon, cycling 50 miles and an open water swim.
However, the challenges actually got underway as soon as the festivities had ended – as Stevens began a six month spell without alcohol at the start of January.
The Alzheimer’s Society Chief Executive, Jeremy Hughes, told the Derbyshire Times:
“We are delighted Dom is giving his time because 225,000 people will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Dom to continue our vital work.”
As with other fundraising events that take place there, Stevens will be able to turn to Print shops in Chesterfield if he needs someone to supply him with leaflets, Posters and other materials for promoting his activities.
