Underground race day returns to Bath

Bath will once more hold its epic underground marathon.

The city of Bath is inviting runners to register for its annual marathon, which will be taking place later in the summer. Known as the Two Tunnel Bath Marathon, the summer event has the distinction of being the longest race run underground in the UK.

The marathon’s route involves four kilometres of underground course where runners will travel through sections of recently restored railway tunnels beneath the historic city. Once outside of the converted railway passages, runners can appreciate other sights from famous architecture like Pulteny Bridge and Bath Abbey to verdant parkland and the picturesque Avon Valley countryside.

The marathon is organised by event specialists, Relish the Great Outdoors Ltd which has been running dedicated race days across the UK since 2011. Promoters of city sporting events such as this can take advantage of banner printing services to create large-scale signage to both highlight the course and invite the local community to take part.

First aid stops are positioned along the course as well as nine feed stations offering a wide selection of snacks and refreshment for those taking on the challenge including energy drinks, flapjacks and fresh fruit as well as jelly beans and Jaffa Cakes.

The Bath Marathon will take place on August 16, headlining a programme that includes several shorter races.
