Application submitted for Bath Fashion Museum

Bath Fashion Museum has moved a stage closer to getting a new home, with the confirmation that a planning application has been sent to the local authority.

This museum used to be located within the Assembly Rooms on Bennett Street, but was forced to vacate that building three years ago. Now, it is hoped that a structure that formerly housed a post office branch can be converted into a new home for the museum. The building in question holds Grade II listed status, so any conversion work would have to be carried out with real care.

The chosen location is in New Bond Street and the Plans for the project are ambitious. They include a restoration of the foyer, which would be used for small exhibitions and a cafe, but would also provide an access route to the museum shop.

The main galleries would be situated above the foyer, forming a horseshoe shape. There will also be a brand-new square for public use that would be called Northgate Square.

Local facilities like museums sometimes turn to brochure printing outlets in Bath when they need information Brochures. These tell visitors about the various displays.

Another amenity that would be created as part of this project is a garden, behind the museum building. This would help to improve biodiversity levels.

It is hoped that the finished museum will be a world-class facility.
