Empty Bath offices could undergo conversion

An empty block of offices in the heart of Bath could be set to undergo conversion into holiday homes, if the Plans win the approval of the council.

Brahamos Limited is the company that has submitted these Plans and the building that it wants to convert is on North Parade. It is a Georgian townhouse that has retail space on the ground floor and offices on the other three. Brahamos intends to turn those offices into six en-suite rooms for use by people who are holidaying in the city. The retail space would be left as it is right now.

One factor that could complicate the application is the fact that the building is a listed one. In addition to securing consent from Bath & North East Somerset Council to change its use, Brahamos must also get listed building consent.

When local property developers have new holiday homes to let, they sometimes get shops in Bath that handle brochure printing to create Brochures showcasing them. This can be a good way to let people know what they have to offer.

A statement that Brahamos submitted argues that there is no demand in the city for offices of this type. To back up that claim, it points out that they have been sitting vacant for over two years.

The townhouse was built in 1740 and the application promises to preserve it.
