The play 'A Voyage Round My Father' is on tour and due to give a series of performances in Bath at the end of September and beginning of October.
This is John Mortimer's successful play, based on his own life, about the son of a talented and unconventional barrister who grows up in his father's shadow. Narratively, the drama features an eccentric whose teatime talk could range across various topics, from music halls and adultery to Shakespeare and avoiding heroics in wartime.
The play explores the complex paternal relationship with a blind father who loved his garden and disliked visitors, although the fact that he is blind is never discussed. We are introduced to a world of humourous oddballs, incompetent headteachers and frustrated relatives.
John Mortimer, barrister, novelist and playwright was best known for creating TV's 'Rumpole of The Bailey'.
The play stars Rupert Everett, the Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee, with major roles in films such as 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and 'Dance With A Stranger'. It is directed by Richard Eyre, who is supported by an award-winning team that includes designer Bob Crowley and lighting designer Hugh Vanstone.
Tickets range in price from £6.50 to £47.00, inclusive of a transaction tax. Brochure printing can be a valuable resource for those engaged in the promotion of a stage or theatrical event.
'A Voyage Round My Father' will take place between Thursday, September 28 and Saturday, October 7 at Bath Theatre Royal.
