Organised by Dorothy House Hospice Care and Bath Rugby Foundation, the route of Bath Men’s Walk was approximately eight miles in length, beginning in Winsley and ending at the Recreation Ground.
Thrings, a group of solicitors from the city, provided sponsorship for the walk, while a weatherman called Bob Crampton started things off in an official sense.
It took around two hours for the participants to arrive at their destination. When the walk goes ahead for a fourth time, the organisers may use flyer printing in Bath to promote the occasion.
Halena Coury, the Head of Fundraising and Sponsorship for Bath Rugby Foundation, has said:
“It is a fantastic day and a wonderful fundraiser for both charities. With just under 500 walkers this is clearly an event that captures the imagination. We look forward to another success next year.”
Simon Holdsworth, who is a senior partner at Thrings, was also impressed by the way the fundraiser went. He has stressed how young people will benefit from the money collected.
Phillippa Watson, who works for the Dorothy House organisation, has expressed her satisfaction at the outcomes achieved by the walk. She has stated that she would like it to be a feature of the local calendar for several years.
