The owners of the city centre establishment would like to compete with neighbouring pubs on a level playing field. It is not located in a residential area, so the extension to the opening hours might be granted by the authorities.
Promotional drinkware from Bath can always be used to help advertise the quality of a local bar. Vino Vino is frequented by theatre goers, so it could benefit from adjusting its opening times.
Anai Malecka is a regular at Vino Vino and visits the place with friends every week. She is an advocate of allowing bars to remain open late into the night, and told the Bath Chronicle:
“I think it’s a really good thing. We need these sort of places in Bath.”
The council planners will look at the bar’s application on its merits and their decision is expected to be delivered in the middle of October.
Two years ago, the planners opted to permit late opening for a bar in Kingsmead Square. That’s What She Said can now say goodbye to its clientele at 3am on two nights each week. The bar also has the capacity to close at 1am on several other occasions as a result of the permit.
