Leaflet and website explain new reservoir for Somerset

A new website has launched to explain the Plans behind a new reservoir for the Somerset region. The website is also being supported by a leaflet that is being distributed in the area.

Bristol Water recently launched its new website to help communicate the Plans for a second reservoir in Cheddar, which will supply water to residents in Somerset. A supporting leaflet was also sent out to residents of Cheddar and Axbridge, with a view to informing residents on the Plans before a new consultation process on the reservoir starts in January 2013.

Jeremy Williams, the spokesperson for Bristol Water, commented on the fact that the website had launched and that the leaflet was being sent out, saying:

“This is an important step forward in the long procedure of consultation and planning. The website and newsletter set the scene for the real start of the process.”

Any major developments like new reservoirs tend to go through a public consultation first, so explaining Plans to the public is common, often using media like websites and leaflets created using flyer printing.

Bath and the wider Somerset region are supplied by two water suppliers – one of these being Bristol Water, the company in charge of creating the new reservoir, and the other being Wessex Water. The need for a second reservoir in Cheddar shows that the demand for water in the South West of England is on the increase, so whichever water supplier is delivering this utility, there will be the need for expansion.
