Bath welcomes folktronica band

The Blackheart Orchestra, presented by Event Horizon Live, is on tour and due to perform a gig in Bath in mid-May.

The band consists of Rick Pilkington and Chrissy Mostyn, who are both award-winning British songwriters and composers. Their 13 multi-instrumental folktronica sound emerges as a distinctive blend of diverse musical genres.

The Orchestra combines Mostyn's voice and stringed instruments with ‘80s pop synthesisers and strong classical elements. Despite having just two members, the band has been mistaken for an eight-piece group on first hearing, due to the continuous switching on stage from guitars, piano and organ, to synthesisers and melodica.

The band has released four albums, including the critically acclaimed 2019 release 'Mesmeranto’ which entered at number 18 in the rock charts, and the lockdown all-instrumental 'Mute' on 2021. Their live shows, most notably opening for Hawkwind on their UK tour, and a sold-out performance at London's Royal Albert Hall soon won them a solid fan base, considerable respect from their musical peers, and a number of TV commercial and film placements.

Full tickets cost £16 and £14 for concessions, plus a £1.50 theatre restoration levy. Flyer printing is an effective way of publicising a forthcoming musical event or concert.

The Blackheart Orchestra's gig has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Friday, May 13 at The Rondo Theatre, Bath.
