The bluegrass and traditional folk musician Sarah Jane Scouten is on tour with her band and is due to play a gig in Bath at the beginning of March.
Based in Montreal, this singer/songwriter and guitarist grew up in British Columbia in a family steeped in music. Her music is deeply rooted in the British and North American folk traditions, with influences that include everything from Louisiana two stepping and Vancouver Island's folklorists to the sounds of her Scottish forebears.
Scouten's songs touch on strong themes such as homelessness, romantic love and heartache, combining these with large doses of Canadiana into what she likes to call space country. This multiple award nominee and seasoned stage performer also regularly appears at festivals and attends workshops, whilst her most recent albums were released to much critical acclaim.
‘Confessions’, her fourth album, was recorded and produced in Toronto and further explores the sounds of Americana, notably folk-rock and indie-pop, embodying elements of T-Rex and 70s era David Bowie. It constitutes a body of work that essentially validates, censures and eulogises the artist's most significant life relationships.
Tickets cost £16.50, inclusive of a booking fee. Flyer printing can be effective when it comes to publicising a forthcoming concert or musical event.
Sarah Jane Scouten's gig has a starting time of 8.00 pm on Thursday, March 9 at The Chapel Arts Centre, Bath.
