The new musical ‘Roman Holiday’ is due to arrive in Bath for a series of shows at the beginning of June.
This stage adaptation of the Oscar Award-winning film features the music of Cole Porter. Roman Holiday was a poignant comedy that launched Audrey Hepburn's international film career.
The story involves Ann, a young princess, who on a visit to Rome evades her chaperones and bumps into Joe, an American reporter. During a hectic 24-hour period, he acts as her guide to Italy's capital. The pair grow closer whilst his editor demands an article about a lost princess.
It has been adapted by Paul Blake and Kirsten Guenther. The songs by Cole Porter that feature include 'You Do Something To Me', 'Night And Day', 'In The Still Of The Night' and 'Just One Of Those Things'.
The show is to be directed by Jeremy Sams, the winner of two Olivier Awards and a two-time Tony Award nominee. He previously directed the West End production of Noises Off, and was the scriptwriter for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Tickets range in price from £27 to £46.50 and are subject to a booking fee. The importance of graphic design should not be underestimated when it comes to staging a musical or theatrical show.
Roman Holiday will run from Saturday, June 10 to Saturday, July 1 at The Theatre Royal, Bath.
