Plans submitted for last stage of Basingstoke development

Detailed Plans for the final stage of an ambitious housing development being built in Basingstoke have now been submitted to the council and are awaiting approval.

The Merton Rise housing estate is being constructed not far from Basingstoke Hospital and the developer behind it is Persimmon Homes. The completed estate is set to consist of 784 homes, with this last part of the project involving the building of another 146 properties, which will be situated between Don Allen Drive and Kidlington Road. A total of 39 of them will be affordable housing, with 24 being rental accommodation and 15 available to buy.

This final part of the building process will also see a green space created for shared use by all of those living within the estate, which will be called Popley Way Square. Full colour Brochures are often produced to showcase new housing estates, provided by local shops that offer quality brochure printing services.

Speaking to the Basingstoke Gazette, Persimmon Homes’ planning manager Laura Jackson stated:

“The layout proposed for phase 2c has followed the principles that have been permitted on previous phases. It also looks to ensure that the aspirations of the illustrative masterplan are met.”

The council is scheduled to come to a decision during July, with one councillor suggesting that Persimmon may be asked to add more affordable rented housing to the Plans.
