Music legend to play gig in Basingstoke

One of the true music legends of the 1960s and 1970s will be coming to Basingstoke later this year, so that he can perform a special solo live show.

Graham Gouldman became famous as a member of the 1970s band 10cc, which had major hits including ‘I’m Not in Love’ and ‘Dreadlock Holiday.’ Gouldman was one of its founder members and stayed with the band until its demise. Before all that though, he had a successful career as a songwriter during the preceding decade. Indeed, many fans of 1960s pop may be unaware just how much of it he was responsible for.

From 1965 onwards, Gouldman wrote hit songs for The Yardbirds, The Hollies and Herman’s Hermits. These included ‘For Your Love’, Bus Stop’, ‘No Milk Today’ and ‘Heart Full of Soul’ – the latter of which gives his new show its name. Gouldman is coming to Basingstoke to play ‘Heart Full of Songs’.

This will see him play intimate solo renditions of the many classic tunes he has penned. Fans can expect to hear those 1960s hits alongside 10cc songs.

The venue for the show will be the Haymarket Theatre and local venues often use poster printing from Basingstoke shops to advertise their upcoming shows.

Gouldman was honoured for his long career with an induction into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. He will play in Basingstoke on 28 September.
