Garden community could be created in Basingstoke

Proposals for what is being described as a ‘garden community’ development have been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Council, with an outline of the project also being released to the public.

The project is at a preliminary stage right now, with a document outlining the basic idea having been submitted to the council by Portsmouth Settled Estates and Viscount Lymington. If the plan gets the nod, it would involve a total of 2,500 homes being built on a piece of land that is in the Farleigh Wallop area near Basingstoke.

The document sent to the council states that the completed development would be called Upper Swallick Garden Community and that, in addition to the housing, it would also feature places for people to work, shops and all necessary infrastructure for living.

Viscount Lymington also added a message in which he said that they wanted to create a development that would have a long-term positive impact on Basingstoke, as well meeting the short-term need for more housing. Brochure printing provided by Print shops in Basingstoke is sometimes used to let people see what planned housing projects will look like once they have been completed.

Even if the council gives its approval to the final Plans, the development will take years to finish, with the projected start and end dates being 2025 and 2045.
