First Basingstoke housing development images released
The first set of drawings showcasing what a sizeable new housing development in Basingstoke will look like when it is finished have been released, as preliminary works begin at the site.
This development is being built at a spot in the Manydown area of Basingstoke and will feature a total of 3,520 homes. It has been a long time in the planning, as the council originally purchased the land 25 years ago with the intention of using it for development. Work is underway now though and the pictures reveal ambitious plans for the site.
These include the construction of two new schools for primary-aged pupils, a number of green spaces and a big park for use by people living on the estate. Graphic design shops can help with the creation of images like this for housing developers.
The developer behind this project is Urban&Civic, with the cost expected to be £1.2bn. The Wellcome Trust charity has teamed up with Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to provide the funding for it.
At the moment, work to survey the land is taking place, as well as archaeological digs to see if there are any historical items buried there, before the actual house building starts early next year.
It is expected that the first of the houses on the site will be ready by 2023.
