Basingstoke skate park campaign launched

A new campaign has been launched in Basingstoke to push for the construction of a skate park at an indoor location, with a petition having been created for residents of the town to sign.

Already, over 1,000 people who live in the town have put their names to this petition. The organisers of the campaign argue that an indoor park that skaters can use to hone their skills has the potential to provide the town with future Olympic competitors.

The idea for the park was first proposed at a Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council meeting that was held recently.

The man who suggested it is Steve Peach, who set up the charity organisation Stoke Park. This assists local people of all ages in participating in sports that include wheels, while also providing help with issues like mental health, obesity and economic disadvantage.

Charities like this often find that promotional poster printing from shops in Basingstoke is one of many effective methods they can use to raise awareness of their latest campaigns.

According to the Basingstoke Gazette, Peach told councillors at the meeting that:
“There is a growing demand, and if you visit any skate park, you will see children and adults alike enjoy their chosen activities. When the winter or rain comes you can no longer ride or skate.”

Leisure Park has been suggested as a location, with confirmation to follow later.
