Effie Grant has helped out at this event in the past, as a Campaigns Ambassador for Cancer Research UK. This year she has decided to put her running shoes on and take part in the race though, and she will be joined by her daughter Nana-Aba, who is 14.
Effie is also the co-owner of a laundry firm in Basingstoke called Blankson’s Ltd, and lost both her sister and step-mother to cancer. This motivated her to become involved in fundraising for the charity and now to enter the 2021 Race for Life.
The Race for Life includes a number of different runs, such as 10k and 5k to ensure that it is accessible to people of any age. Speaking to the Basingstoke Gazette, Sam Morris of Cancer Research UK said:
“This year, more than ever, we need people to enter the Race for Life – for the people we love, for the people we’ve lost and for the one in two of us who will get cancer.”
It will be held on August 14 starting from Down Grange Sports Complex. Flyer printing by local outlets often helps promote charity events like this.
