Basingstoke light show in contention for award

A light show that took place in Basingstoke is in the running for a top award with the winner due to be announced before the end of the year.

Let’s Glow was an event that saw War Memorial Park and the Top of the Town festooned with illuminations. It was a spectacular interactive light show that made for a memorable local attraction and now it could be set to win a prestigious award. It has made it to the finals of this year’s Beautiful South Tourism Awards, in the category ‘Tourism Event/Festival of the Year.’

The idea behind these awards is to honour events and businesses that help to boost the tourism economy in South East England. Companies, festivals and events from across the region are entered into it each year. Colour Blue serves as the sponsor for the awards.

When the town is in contention for an award of this kind, the local council is sometimes keen to celebrate the fact. Banner printing by Basingstoke shops can help with that.

Tourism South East Chief Executive Fran Downton told the Basingstoke Gazette:

“We’re delighted to share this year’s finalists for the Beautiful South Awards. Their dedication to quality, innovation and brilliant customer service continues to raise the bar for our region’s tourism offer.”

The various winners are scheduled to be announced at an award ceremony in December.
