Variety show proves a charity winner

A variety spectacular that took place over two nights in Audenshaw, near Ashton-under-Lyne, has succeeded in generating £1,000 for a local charity.

This event was held in the Guide Bridge Theatre and was the brainchild of actors from local concert party ‘A Piano Player and Some Other People’ and ‘Village Chorus Line’.

It was produced by Christine Richardson, a dance teacher, and Sue Holden, a singer, and the latter stated that the two different groups had got together on four previous occasions to put on the charity show.

As with the other times, the charity benefiting from their efforts was Willow Wood Hospice and its Head of PR and Fundraising, John Fellowes, told a reporter from Inside Tameside that:

“I was thrilled to accept the donation on behalf of the hospice and to have the opportunity to thank the ladies personally for their support.

“Both groups will be coming back to the hospice in early December to entertain our day hospice patients.”

Those organising charity fundraising evenings like this one will know that they can always use places that offer colour copying in Ashton-under-Lyne, to ensure they have plenty of attractive Posters for promoting them.

Holden said that the evening had provided local people with lots of entertainment. The cast of both shows are long-time supporters of Willow Wood Hospice, which provides care for people throughout Glossop and Tameside.
