Souvenir: a tribute to Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is due to play a gig in Ashton-under-Lyne at the beginning of October.
This duo honours the musical legacy of one of the pioneers of 80's electronic music, often regarded as the 'Godfathers of synthpop', by bringing the band's distinctive sound live to the stage. They consist of: Andy singer/bassist, who delivers Andy McCloskey's vocals; Gaz, the rhythmic engine on drums, and lastly Winnifred, a reel-to-reel TEAC A-3340S Tape deck.
Created by them as fans, the show's detailed production succeeds in reproducing the energy and atmosphere of an authentic live experience. Their set features much of OMD's back catalogue, from the hits to the deep-cuts and features such well known tracks as 'Enola Gay', 'Electricity', 'If You Leave', 'Souvenir', 'Joan of Arc', 'Maid of Orleans', 'Pandora’s Box' and 'Forever Live & Die'.
The act should be of interest to a wide range of people, from original fans, and those new to the music, as well as those seeking an evening’s entertainment.
Tickets cost £14.00 in advance and £15.00 on admission. Poster printing remains one of the most effective resources at the disposal of those eager to promote a future concert or musical event.
Souvenir's gig has a starting time of 8.30 pm on Saturday 10th October at The Witchwood, Ashton-under-Lyne.
