Shop rents in the North West still falling

According to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, at the beginning of July the price of renting shops in the North West region of England had fallen for the fourth consecutive year.

Research by Collies International, the real estate advisors, showed an overall decline of 1% between this year and the last.

Further figures stated that average rents in the region have been recorded as 19% below the statistics from 6 years ago. Rent prices were recorded as an average of £100 per sq ft in 2008, which has fallen to just £81 per sq ft in 2014.

According to the research, the fastest falling individual rents were recorded in Ashton-under-Lyne, which saw the cost of renting retail space in the area drop 14% over the 2013-2014 period. Other locations in the region were also reported to have suffered high decreases over the same amount of time.

Although this is the fourth year in a row that North West rents have fallen, the region did better than the rest of the UK for the first time in 3 years, not including London. In order to boost rent prices and property value, many businesses make use of printing services in Ashton-under-Lyne, which can increase consumer interest and in turn push up the demand for property in the area.
