Bake&TAKE, which started in Germany and has spread across much of northern Europe, has seen its first location open in Piccadilly Approach. However, with ambitious Plans to hit turnover of more than £2m in the first year, the owners of the UK brand have chosen Ashton-under-Lyne as their next location.
Talking about the Plans, co-owner Robin Page said:
“We have spent the last 10 months putting the infrastructure in place and following a significant investment of more than £1m, we are now ready to launch bake&TAKE in the UK, with the north west as the company’s heartland.”
A whole new experience for the UK consumer, bake&TAKE brings a continental self-service approach to the bakery. Very much in the style of a delicatessen, customers are able to select from freshly made products such as Kaiser roll and Turkish flatbreads.
In all, more than 200 products will be available. In the UK, the average product range of most large bakery chains is no more than 40.
Where possible, pavement seating will also be made available, with banner printing likely to be used to brand and section off the areas.
With such ambitious Plans, Page and his business partner Steve Mahon are targeting 10 locations in 2014. The duo is also hoping to increase the pace of Plans, and would like to open 100 stores over the next five years.Get a Free Quote for Plans
