Mother and daughter become poster girls for Memory Walk

Organisers of a sponsored walk for the Alzheimer’s Society within Heaton Park have unveiled publicity material involving a family from Ashton.

Helen Evers-Buckland and her daughter Jessica strongly support the cause, and their picture was taken by

a photographer when they participated in an event during 2013. This image has been used by the charity this year.

Ms Evers-Buckland, 42, declared that she was surprised to be featured on Posters along with her 11-year-old daughter to highlight the worthy cause. If the Alzheimer’s Society is going to put on a similar walk during 2015 it might well consider using poster printing in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The poster campaign was targeted at a variety of places. It was even noticed by a cousin of Ms Evers-Buckland when travelling on the underground in London.

Helen has stated that the experience of being on the poster could be fondly remembered by Jessica as she gets older. Jessica's grandmother, Amelia Caldwell, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for almost a decade. The walk through Heaton Park took place on the 27th September, beginning at 10 o’clock in the morning.

Ms Evers-Buckland has told the Manchester Evening News:

“I lost my mum to Alzheimers two years ago and my dad had a form of dementia and passed away as well, so this is a charity that’s really close to my heart.”
