Local charity receives unique donation

A charity based in Ashton-under-Lyne received a one-off financial donation recently, with the money having come from two homeless men in Manchester.

Mark and Ryan use their base at the city’s Oxford Road for the collection of donations they need to purchase essential items, but having seen a Lavender Ribbon Cancer Support collector in the city centre, they made the spontaneous decision to give all of that day’s money.

Now the charity, which is situated on Stamford Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, has thanked them for their generosity by providing them with hoodies for keeping warm when they are outside.

Its fundraising manager, Andrew Morris, told the Manchester Evening News that:

“I was out in the city with my daughters and both Ryan and Mark stopped us in the street and donated all of the money they had. I just couldn’t believe how generous they were; it really restored our faith in humankind.”

Charities within the town, such as this one, have the option of using places that offer poster printing in Ashton-under-Lyne, for help with local promotions.

Morris went on to add that the donation was among the most inspiring he had witnessed during his time with the charity and that both of the men had been delighted to receive the extra clothing to help keep them warm.

The Lavender Ribbon charity provides support for those suffering from cancer through complementary therapies.
