The Kilkennys, an Irish folk band, is currently on the road and due to appear near Ashton-under-Lyne in mid-June.
This four-piece outfit is recognised for its powerful arrangements, onstage energy and strong connection with audiences. They were formed in Ireland in 1998 by some school friends, who included founding members Davey Cashin and Tomemy Mackey, then immediately began touring up and down the country.
The band produced a live LP 'Meet The Kilkennys' and subsequently appeared on radio and TV, most notably on RTE's 'Late Late Show', performing the track 'Shine on Kilkenny'. Their 2014 album release, 'The Colour Of Freedom', which combined original songs with classic ballads, was well received.
They have taken on the mantle of legendary groups such as The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, with skilled musicianship and polished vocals. Eager to enhance their reputation for introducing Irish music to more young people, whilst maintaining the enthusiasm of older fans.
The quartet has performed with artists like Shane McGowan, Finbar Fury and Sharron Shannon. Their latest show features many new songs, due for release later this year.
